BRUIN COMMUNITY PARENTS
PARENTS, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY SUPPORTING THE STUDENTS OF CASCADE HIGH SCHOOL, EVERETT, WA
GEAR UP’s vision is that all students are academically, socially, and financially prepared to enter and complete the postsecondary program or institution of their choice.
All families go through periods of stress and/or crisis at some point. When these things happen, it is often hard ot know who to turn to in helping yourself and your teenager. The Advocate at your school can provide support to you and your family in many different ways.
Here are some of the ways the Advocate might be of assistance to you:
CASCADE HS FAMILY ADVOCATE
-
Collaborate with you, school counselors, and teachers to improve your child's learning and school performance
-
Connect your family to resources in the community
-
Advocate for you or your teenager to receive needed services in the community
-
Assist in providing social, emotional and behavioral support for your teen while at school
-
Provide information and support when a family is experiencing a crisis
-
Meet parents and students outside of school hours to provide all levels of support. Some may want short-term help; others may find a regular meeting with the family advocate to be most helpful.

CASCADE HS GEAR UP!
We believe that young people who start planning in middle school have a better chance of entering college and completing their degrees.
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a competitive federal program that provides six- and seven-year grants to education/community partnerships and states to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
Cascade HS is participating in GEAR UP with an ongoing grant for the 2017 graduating class of students. We look forward to extending this exciting opportunity to other classes in the future.
GEAR UP'S THREE OBJECTIVES:
-
Increase academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education.
-
Increase high school graduation and postsecondary participation rates.
-
Increase students’ and their families’ knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation, and finances.
